The swollen Manning River which has been disgourging into the sea, carrying with it plenty of land creatures small fish and prawns, is attracting many fish into the close in fishing grounds between Harrington and Old Bar.
This same scenario is no doubt occurring all along the coast where muddy water is running out to sea.
Pictured is local builder Phil Hobson with one of these fish, a snapper estimated to weigh in excess of 8kg, taken on Crowdy Bay Charters vessel "Sea Lady II".
The fish was released by Phil as it was thought to be a big breeder, a number of smaller fish were kept for the table.
