The Jillaroos forward was twisted in a tackle during the Dragons clash with the Broncos. This was the final match of the first day of competition on Friday, February 14.
Wheeler was stretchered off the field at HBF Park and transported to hospital where the injury was confirmed.
She did return, albeit on crutches, the next night to accept a medal after the Dragons defeated the Broncos 28-4 in the grand final.
Wheeler was set to play in the State women's competition before the revamped NRLW competition resumed in September.
Two weeks ago, Wheeler was named as one of 20 players to receive a marquee contract as part of the NRL's elite women's program.
