After falling into voluntary administration last week, the company will now close 37 of its 146 stores across Australia.
This has rendered 263 employees redundant, with 21 coming from the company's headquarters in Melbourne.
This was confirmed by administrators on Thursday, January 23.
The move is part of a restructuring process designed to attract new ownership.
Both stores in Newcastle's busiest shopping centres at Kotara and Charlestown Square will close.
In recent times, fellow retail chains Target, Big W, the Reject Shop, Harris Scarfe and EB Games have felt the pinch of financial strain
So far, none of these stores in the Manning and Great Lakes have been impacted.
