The brigade received $6000 and is set to purchase vital equipment such as LED helmet torches and thermal cameras.
The cameras locate fires that burn underground in peat. According to NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, these hot spots can cause more fires to re-ignite.
With little to no visible sight of smoke, the cameras can still register heat above 400 degrees. Firefighters would then quell the fires by pumping water or using sprinklers.
The Lions Club will split the remainder of the funds with several fire brigades, Manning Valley Push 4 Palliative and Can Assist Manning Valley.
In further good news for firefighters, several brigades are now the proud owners of new washing machines.
Since the bushfire crisis ramped up, firefighters were forced to wash their gear at home with their own machines and water supplies.
Now, the Lansdowne brigade has a commercial machine for heavy duty work wear while the Coopernook crew has access to a washer and dryer unit.
Wallaby Joe also has a machine on the way while the bushfire ravaged community of Bobin can now access one at the Bobin Hall.
