The event was held in Taree's Queen Elizabeth Park and had about 40 families in attendance.
MidCoast Council general manager Adrian Panuccio and Rotary Club of Taree on Manning projects manager Maurie Stack addressed the crowd.
Other dignitaries in the crowd were mayor David West and local priests Fr George Anthicad and Fr Peter Tinney.
Local services were on hand to assist those in need. These included the Australian Red Cross Emergency Services where volunteers provided a 'listening ear' and recovery information.

Mr Stack said families affected by bushfires received a cumulative total of $80,000 through the Mid Coast relief fund. These were presented through Eftpos gift cards.
"We hope to give out another $80,000 before Christmas," Mr Stack said.
"We are grateful for those people who have contributed to this fund that will help those affected by bushfires."
Mr Stack estimated 30 families who lost their homes were uninsured.
"We can come back to to those who are uninsured and give them more money," Mr Stack said.
He was hopeful the next batch of Eftpos cards would arrive this week.
