A man was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital after he was injured in the smash up derby at the Taree Show.
Just after 4pm on Sunday, October 13, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service was tasked to Taree Showground following reports of an accident.
A 24-year-old man received serious pelvis injuries in a heavy collision during the derby. He was treated at the scene by paramedics.
He was further stabilised by the helicopter critical care medical team and was transported to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
