But that was the case for Bob Baxter from Harrington Waters.
Bob's the vice president of Harrington Waters Golf Club. Golf was the main reason Bob and his wife, Belinda, retired at Harrington Waters after previously living in Gosford.
He nailed the hole in one on the 6th last week when playing in the mid-week competition. It was his first at Harrington but his fourth overall.
"I knew when I hit the ball it was going straight, but you never expect it to land in the hole,'' Bob said.
However, that's where the trouble started at home.
"Since we've moved here Belinda's gone mad on golf,'' Bob explained.
"She plays eight days a week. We have a golf cart but I never get to use it, because Belinda's always on the course.
"Belinda got the s...s, because she said she wanted to be the first (in the family) to get a hole in one here.''
Marital tension aside, Bob said it was good to chalk up his fourth ace, particularly at his new home.
His first was in 2006 and second in 2015 both on Central Coast courses, His third was in Queensland last year.
There was a bit of symmetry about the feat as well.
"John Perks was playing in our group last week and he was with me when I got the first hole in one 13 years ago,'' Bob explained.
"Mal Felton was also with us. He was there last year when I got the third.''
Bob plays three times a week and his handicap sits on 10. It has been as low as six in the days when he said he practically lived on the golf course.
He admits to having some initial reservations about moving to Harrington Waters, given it's only a nine hole course. However, those doubts have long since been erased.
Bob described the course as 'sensational.'
"Other courses are struggling because of the drought. We have lush fairways here,'' he said.
"Harrington Water's rated in the top 25 nine hole courses in Australia.
"I've played eight of those 25 and Harrington's better than the lot of them.
"That's how good it is.''
