Elands resident Walt Edwards believes regular safety inspections should be carried out on the Bulga Road as large rocks have made many sections dangerous.

He is a regular user of the road.
"My carer was driving me home around 9pm along the 10km unsealed section of Bulga Road recently,'' he explained.
"About 3km from Elands a number fallen rocks had to be negotiated on the narrow section. We had the option of going left and hitting the bank or right and go over the steep edge.''
The carer edged the car along the road slowly in a bid to avoid problems. However, one hit the aluminium/magnesium alloy engine sump and smashed out a large piece. Soon all the engine oil was lost.
"This proved to be expensive exercise to repair my Volvo,'' Mr Edwards said.
"The usual condition of the 10km of unsealed road will only allow a speed of 20 to 40km.
"I've been told that that a bus hit a rock recently and blew the tyre and pierced the rim, ruining both.''
Mr Edwards said the most dangerous section is at the one way narrow part where rocks fall every time there is rain and high winds.
"Some effort was made to place concrete buffers to capture the falling rocks at the most dangerous spots, but they fall so often that the space between the buffers and mountain side are full. So rocks come down and roll all over the buffers and onto the road,'' he explained.
Mr Edwards said the only warning given for residents, school buses and tourists is a sign that says: Falling rocks, do not stop.
"Who would try to stop falling rocks?'' he asked.
"My reason for going public on this matter is that I am told I would not win a compensation claim, but I believe council should regularly check and inspect this section of road, especially after heavy weather.
"Remedial measures should be implemented as a duty of care to the motoring public.''
Bridge works
Work is underway replacing yet another ageing timber bridge, Little Cedar Party Creek Bridge at Cedar Party.
The existing single lane bridge on Comboyne Road will be replaced with a new concrete structure.
Works will continue through to December, weather permitting.
Traffic will be detoured using Shorts Road, Cedar Party Road and Youngs Road for the duration of the works.
