Among the guests were three parents, Chum and Edith Cavanagh and Les Atkins, and members of the bridal party.
Peter and Nerida were married at St John's Church of England, Taree on September 6, 1969.
They celebrated their anniversary at the lunch at Harringans Tavern, Harrington.
Among the guests were friends and family who had attended the wedding, with lots of reminiscing about the time gone by.
Peter and Nerida lived in Cundletown. They have two children and three grandchildren.
They had three businesses in Taree over the years.
In 2001 they sold up and spent the next 16 years working and caravanning around Australia.
They have now settled in Mandurah, Western Australia and are enjoying their retirement.
They enjoy many visits from family and friends.
For their milestone wedding anniversary, they received congratulations from Prime Minister Scott Morrison, the governor of Western Australia Kim Beazley AC, the Governor General of Australia David Hurley AC DSC and the leader of the Australian Labor Party Anthony Albanese.
