Wind speeds are forecast to reach up to 50kph from the south-west across the Manning this afternoon, before decreasing to 25-40kph in the evening.
Between 10 and 20mm of rain is expected to fall in the area, with the chance of thunderstorms through the late morning and afternoon.
Offshore, seas are expected to reach up to a mountainous six metres by the evening, making activities such as surfing, fishing and swimming extremely hazardous and also causing a high likelihood of coastal erosion.
The severe weather is being caused by a low pressure system off the southern NSW coast and the deepening of an associated front near the South Coast.
The effects of the system have already been felt further south, with 130kph winds being recorded at Ulladulla and heavy downfalls causing significant disruptions to traffic in Sydney, with several major arterial roads at a standstill, according to the ABC.
Snow has also fallen along the inland ranges, with our own Barrington Tops receiving its second powdering of snow for the season overnight.
Wind, rain and seas should ease through Wednesday, with conditions predicted to settle from mid-week as a high pressure system over the Great Australian Bight moves across the State.
