And one of the new cabin crew, Jaide Russell, hails from Taree.
Tigerair, the official airline of Melbourne Storm, has partnered with the club this weekend to auction off the 17 specially designed jerseys with all proceeds going to the Dardi Muwurrow charity which focuses on Indigenous family violence support.
It comes one week after Tigerair celebrated the milestone graduation of six new cabin crew members - more than a quarter of the latest Cabin Crew Ground School - who identify as indigenous.
This represents the largest intake of indigenous cabin crew members ever recorded in one Tigerair Ground School.
The graduates Igary, Charity, Jaide, Ricky, Chelsea and Jasmine successfully completed their initial training course alongside 15 other trainees at the Cabin Crew Ground School and graduated at a ceremony held at the Tigerair headquarters in Melbourne.
The six graduates are from a range of different locations across Australia, including Brisbane, Taree, Echuca, Cooee in north-west Tasmania, Coffs Harbour and Melbourne, and are now officially taking their first shifts in the sky.
"We are proud to welcome our newest Indigenous cabin crew graduates to the Tigerair team," Tigerair CEO, Merren McArthur said.
"We are committed to providing positive and sustainable employment outcomes for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce, to not only provide a platform for future Indigenous applicants, but also allow our workforce to reflect the community we serve and the customers that choose to fly with us each day."
The Cabin Crew Ground School runs over five weeks and is a comprehensive training course that equips the participants with all the necessary skills needed for a career in the air.
