This is the second successive year Taree has hosted the championship.
The event is for junior drivers aged from eight to 15. It will be decided in three classes, J1, J2 and J3, with J1 for the younger drivers.
Powerboat club committee member Scott Godfrey said there will be drivers from South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria as well as NSW here. Racing will start from around 9am and a 19 event program will be conducted, finishing about 4pm.
Taree Aquatic Club officials will run the championship with the assistance of the Australian Power Boat Association (APBA). Mr Godfrey said some boats will reach speeds of 60kms.
At the time of going to press no local drivers had entered.
