Weather conditions were perfect, spirits were high and this was reflected in the scores across all disciplines.
In target rifle A-grade the scorebook was thrown away with all shooters posting double possible scores of 100 with only the centre count to determine places. Local Mal McKenzie was the winner with an excellent two-stage shoot of 100 with 15 centres.
The F Open Class is growing at Wingham with seven competitors taking to the mound. As expected, current club champion Roden Lohse was the one to watch with a final score of 114 and nine centres, but victory went to Steve Southwell with an excellent two stage tally of 117 and 9 centres.
However F standard B-grade contiunes to be the grade to watch. Even though this year's competition is only three weeks old, the rivalry between reigning club champion Suzi Laurie and Duncan Robinson continues. Both posted one perfect stage of 60 plus centres.
Laurie's second stage of 60 with six centres has her holding an equal range record for a second stage. Robinson shot an excellent first stage of 60 with three centres, his total for the day of 118 and six centres was the highest F Class off gun score of the day - A-grade, and F Open shooters should take note.
New member Barry Petrich changed his set up in the second stage and fired an excellent 56 and two centres in F standard B-grade.
Junior member Dante Novac posted an excellent 56 and one centre in his first stage to finish with a very respectable final tally of 107 and one centre.
Scores were also high in target rifle C-grade with Craig Laurie taking home the win on 94 and three centres over Ray Yea on 91 and two centres. Yea was the handicap winner for the day.
Next week competition moves to the 600-yard range. Members will then take a break from club competition until after the Wingham Annual Open Prize Meeting over the June long weekend.
This year's open prize meeting has a record prize pool on offer and the club is expecting at least 100 competitors to converge on Wingham and Taree for the weekend.
