To add a special touch to the ceremony, 200 red crochet poppies which have been hand-crafted by four nimble-fingered residents from the community will be on display during the Anzac Day service.
Ingenia Gardens village manager Amanda Howton said the residents were honoured to use their knitting skills and experience to help celebrate such an important day for Australians.
"The knitting group was proud to support the upcoming Anzac Day service," Ms Howton said.
"The ladies from the community have knitted enough red poppies to decorate our whole community room for occasions like Anzac Day and Remembrance Day.
"Collectively they have been knitting for decades and this event provided the ideal opportunity to put their talents to good use.
"Our residents are always happy to put their knitting skills to use for important causes and events, especially when it is cause so close to their hearts."
Knitting group members Pam Smith and Marie Gow were the driving force behind the project after being inspired by a similar project in the United Kingdom (UK).
"We saw on Facebook that people in the UK had knitted poppies to mark the 100-year anniversary of World War I and thought it was a lovely idea - we wanted to be able to replicate this in our own community," Ms Smith said.
"It was a was a great project to help bring our knitters together and strengthen our community - it took us about 40 minutes to knit one poppy alone, so naturally we started spending a lot of time together.
"Anzac Day is an important time for us to remember and reflect on all the sacrifices that were made for our country."
The ladies from the knitting group will be attending the service which will commence at 11am on Thursday, April 25.
