Sixty-six guests were on hand to welcome Gwen on her arrival and totally surprised and overwhelmed her.
Planning for the occasion by nieces Pam Muxlow, Di Greaves-Hayne and Helen Cox started several months ago getting all the relatives and friends notified and included floral table arrangements, balloons, a beautiful iced birthday, a photo collage and the important congratulatory messages from Parliamentary dignitaries.
Guests travelled from Queensland, Sydney and Hawkesbury areas as well as Port Macquarie, Nambucca Heads, Lismore and Dubbo to join local family members and friends for the party.
Gwen had not seen some of her cousins for several years and it was a great time of reunions, hugs and conversation.
Emcee was nephew Ken Ridge of Kenthurst with Grace being said by nephew Ian Richardson of Lake Cathie, who was also tasked with reading the messages of congratulations.
Gwen received a huge arrangement of soft pink, white and cream roses, another of two dozen red roses and other flowers from family, friends and Legacy.
Following the lunch, a beautiful cake made by niece Di Greaves-Hayne and iced by Jenny Cherry was cut by Gwen during the singing of the traditional 'Happy Birthday' before Gwen was presented with a family gift of a crystal bedside lamp along with numerous birthday cards.
Lots of photos and a video were taken to record the happy times and wishes extended to Gwen for her special day and the wish that she enjoy many more.
The celebrations lasted into the late afternoon.
