Great Lakes Rural Australians for Refugees inviting residents of the Manning Valley to sign a condolence book to be sent to the Mayor of Christchurch, expressing support for the New Zealand community following the recent tragic shooting event.
The mayor of MidCoast Council, David West has signed the book as a gesture from our community.
This terrorist incident created a watershed moment not only for New Zealand, but also generated expressions of sympathy around the world, Great Lakes RAR member, Margaret Gardner said.
"The murder of 50 innocent victims while at their peaceful place of worship starkly highlights the subsequent call for unity, love and peace within all communities. The response by the Prime Minister of New Zealand and many members of the general community has been profoundly one of inclusion and tolerance within their country."
The condolence book gives residents of the Mid Coast community a chance to express some thoughts and feelings to the survivors and people of Christchurch.
The book will be available at the Taree Library from Wednesday, April 17. It will be forwarded to the Christchurch community from the MidCoast Council community following a time at Gloucester Library.
Further information about this book can be obtained from Gaye Tindall or Margaret Gardner on 0419 682 526.
