The trek, which takes place between April 26 and May 8, is being organised by Daniel Kranz from Firefly, three years after the inaugural fundraising trek, held in honour of two people who had lost their lives to cancer.
"We've had a couple of other family members battle cancer, my wife included, so we thought we could do a bit more," said Daniel.
About 15 riders and 25 support crew, aged between three and 87, are taking part in the Jindaboonda Trek 2.0 - Bundarra to Barraba, via Blackall and Byrock, and will travel more than 4200km in 11 days on CT110 postie bikes.
Each rider needed to raise $1000 to be eligible to ride and the aim is to raise $70,000.
Hallidays Point Lions Club have come on board, with five or six members coming along on the trek to organise food.
For Daniel, preparations have been underway for some time, as he planned and mapped out the route.
"I wanted to go a bit further into the desert and include a few spots I had wanted to do the first time and there were a few spots we were told we should include on the ride," he said.
He chooses towns with caravan parks and showgrounds where they can stay as a group, and takes into account the distance between those towns.
He then contacts the police stations as part of the risk assessment process and depending on the advice may make changes.
The riders all pay for their own accommodation, fuel and food.
Daniel is looking forward to the ride.
"Its going to be good," he said.
