The session takes place at 5.45pm on Wednesday, March 27 and is a chance for crime novel fans, aspiring authors and general book lovers to listen to and speak with the Australian author.
The Rip is an urban crime novel following a hidden trio of drifters and addicts in inner city Melbourne.
Mark's inspiration comes from his intimate knowledge of Richmond, where in 2017 heroin overdose deaths reached a 17-year high, with 34 of those deaths occurring in a four-block area.
It also subverts some of the more condescending beliefs about the nature of homelessness and addiction.
While faced with enormously challenging circumstances, both main characters are portrayed with respect and dignity, and not as passive victims of circumstance.
Mark's first novel Wimmera won the coveted British Crime Writers' Association Debut Dagger, and was named Best Debut at the 2018 Australian Indie Book Awards.
