A man will face court today (Friday, March 15) charged over the alleged sexual touching of a young girl outside a shop in Wauchope yesterday.

Officers from Mid North Coast Police District were contacted after reports a four-year-old girl had been sexually touched by an unknown man on Cameron Street in Wauchope, while out shopping with her family just after 9am on Thursday, March 14.
An investigation was subsequently launched by detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, with the assistance of Mid North Coast Police District.
About 4.20pm, a 52-year-old man was arrested at a nearby home and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station.
He was charged with intentionally sexually touching a child under 10 years.
Police will allege in court that that the man exposed himself to the young girl before sexually touching her, and then leaving the area.
The Wauchope man was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on March 15.
