At the same time Country Labor Candidate for Myall Lakes, David Keegan and Shadow Minister for Finance, Clayton Barr, announced NSW Labor would annually allocate $5000 to every Parents and Citizens Association in the State.

Hallidays Point Public School P and C president, Mel Orchard was understandably delighted with the announcement.

"From a parent's perspective this would be amazing to see," Ms Orchard said.

"There are a multitude of things we would like to do in the school; fundraising is a big part of the P and C," she said.

"To see them (students) have a better education experience would be wonderful."

Hallidays Point is one of the fastest growing schools in the Great Lakes-Manning region.

Established in old house, the current student enrolment of close to 240 is expected to grow dramatically in the coming few years.

However,  infrastructure is struggling to keep up with the growth with little space for teachers and staff.

The administrative building is functioning as both a learning support room as well as a canteen and uniform shop.

Funding would allow for the construction of a new purpose-build administrative office to the front of the school. The building is currently located at the back of the school grounds.

This existing administrative office would be re-purposed as a learning support space for teachers to work with children one-on-one as required.

Also, it would enable the canteen to be re-located.

Planning and building process for the school would begin almost immediately following the election later this month.

“A new administrative centre and upgraded learning space will go a long way to meeting the needs of this popular and fast-growing school," Dr Keegan said.

“The Hallidays Point community told us that they needed this critical infrastructure to better serve their students, parents and staff," he said.
