Wingham took on an undermanned Tinonee with some of their players stepping up from Under 10’s. Wingham won the toss and chose to bowl first and soon had Tinonee in trouble. Drew Gosper (2/5) picked up two wickets in his second over and Jackson Barry (1/10) another early wicket
Cae Allan and Lachlan Dawson (1/6) came on to bowl next and continued the tight lines.
Ryan Hughes (2/7) and Charlie Pereira (1/7) claimed the last three wickets leaving Tinonee all out for 62.
Kaden Lane opened the batting with Drew Gosper and got the team off to a great start. Tinonee got two quick wickets but couldn't prevent captain, Cae Allan (14 no) and Jackson Barry (27 no) from hitting the winning runs.
Wingham quickly got the job done finishing at 2/63.
The victory will see Wingham take on Bulahdelah in the grand final at the Taree Recreation Grounds this Saturday at 8.30.
Under 10 Sixers vs Thunder
The Sixers and the Thunder came head to head for a special twilight local derby last Thursday afternoon at Central Park.
The Thunder started well with Josh Oliver (5) and Rylie Murray (22) getting the innings off to a brisk start. Murray found the boundary on two occasions.
Jakiah Gallagher (5), Jaeda Gallagher (4) and Blake Wilson (3) all kept the scoreboard ticking before Gus Loretan made a super 31 including six boundaries.
Sam Harris (1/8) took an early wicket, with Anwar Ali taking a catch and Arabella Roohan featuring in two runouts.
The Thunder compiled a very competitive 5/165 from their 20 overs.
The Sixers started well enough with Kobi Lucas making seven, and Lincoln Smith 26.
But the Sixers lost regular wickets with Roohan (13) and Ned Crawford (10) both run out.
Hunter Lucas (2) and Sam Harris (11) did their best but the Sixers closed their 20 overs with 131 on the board.
In what was an excellent bowling performance from the Thunder, the wickets were well shared with Jack Wheatley picking up three (3/8), Gus Loretan and Josh Oliver two apiece, and Jaeda Gallagher and Rylie Murray one each.
The win keeps the Thunder right in the hunt for first past the post against the Taree West Strikers, with two games to go.
Next week the Thunder take on Taree West in a first versus third encounter, while the fourth place Sixers will take on the second place Taree West Strikers.
Under 16’s
After winning their major semi-final last week, the Under 16’s will take on Taree West at Cedar Party Reserve this Saturday at 8.30.
Taree West 6/130 defeated Forster 8/129 last Saturday to progress through to the grand-final. In a very close match Taree West secured victory with just 11 balls to spare.
The strong performances from all Wingham teams should ensure an exciting weekend of cricket ahead.
