RAYMOND Terrace Aquatic Powerboat Club driver Tayla Howard escaped injury when she rolled over during an event in the opening round of the Australian Formula Grand Prix round held at Taree.
Driving Atlantic Oil, Howard came to grief during the second day of racing. To that point she had been one of the form drivers in her division.
However, she reacted quickly while the rescue boat was soon on the scene.
“I just pushed a bit too hard,’’ she explained in an interview soon after returning to the event’s base near Manning River Rowing Club.
“I was just really eager to see where the boat’s weak spots are and obviously I found one.
“It was all my fault – I trimmed it down too hard and I hooked it.
“But I’m good,’’ she added, while also thanking those who manned the rescue boat.
Howard eventually finished fourth in the F3.
This was the first time the series had been to Taree in a decade
