At about 11am, crews were joined by the Rural Fire Service (RFS) to battle a grass fire off Myall Avenue.
Seven trucks were called to the scene to extinguish the fire.
Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters indicated strong northeasterly winds caused issues with extinguishing the fire.
Firefighters were then dispatched to locations along the railway line in the vicinity of Railway Street and Kanangra Drive.
The crew received calls between 3 and 4pm.
A cause of the fires has not been determined.
To our north, the RFS is battling a grass fire off Toms Creek Road at Ellenborough.
The fire covers 85 hectares and is being controlled.
