The red weed clings to the line and jams up the runners on the rod, making it difficult to recast line. Added to that the line and runners have to be cleaned of weed before the next cast.
The fish don’t like the weed as it gets caught up in their gills.
Before the red week mulloway to 8.5kgs and bream to 750 grams were caught from Crowdy beach on worm bait.
In the river flathead are still responding well to soft plastics and bait and good sized bream have been caught from the river wall on yabbies and mullet pieces.
A few mangrove crabs and blue swimmer crabs have been trapped n the past week.
