Tilly was due to be born on December 28 but she held off until the start of the new year, coming into the world at 10.59am on January 1, 2019.
Given the fact that her older sister, Isla was born a day early, Elise was pleased Tilly held off.
“I’m happy she waited until after Christmas,” Elise smiled. “I’m happy we could pack up the Christmas stuff and celebrate her arrival.”
On New Year’s eve, the couple decided to buy a exercise ball to see if they could entice the little one to think about making her arrival.
“I tried it out that afternoon,” Elise laughed. “And things started happening that evening.”
They went over to a neighbour’s house to celebrate the coming of the new year, but Elise needed to excuse herself and head home.
By 2am, Elise and Craig had to leave two year old Isla with her grandparents and make the journey from Wallabi Point to Manning Hospital.
Much to Elise’s delight, Tilly arrived a few hours later, very healthy with no major issues, a much better experience then her first time which took a fair bit longer; although she was a similar size to her sister, at 2.95 kilograms and 50 centimetres.
Being a little old-school, the couple waited until Tilly was born to find out she was a girl.
Female babies are quite common in Elise’s family with her grandmother’s side now having 13 girls and zero boys.
Leading up to the birth, with temperatures sitting consistently in the high 30s, Elise was able to remain relatively cool by taking advantage of her beach location; enjoying the sea breeze and regular dips in the ocean.
Elise and Craig were married in 2014 and had their first first daughter, Isla on September 27, 2016 and now, Tilly on January 1, 2019.
Tilly is the granddaughter of Eddy and Lynda Merzlikoff and Roy and the late Jocelyn Muir.
When asked the age-old question, will you have anymore children, Elise responded, “I don’t feel like I’m finished yet.”
