Bands rocking the Great Lakes will be DMA’s, Hockey Dad, The Preatures, Jack River, Mallrat, Goons Of Doom, Totty, Mild West, Mini Skirt, Belle Badi and triple j Unearthed winner Grace Turner.
This will be festival director Holly Rankin’s (Jack River) first hometown show since releasing her multi ARIA nominated album Sugar Mountain.
"We’re deeply excited to present Grow Your Own’s biggest line up yet, with acts coming from all over the country as well as many from our own backyard,” Holly said.
“We wanted to create the perfect getaway, full of summer anthems and all the grit and guitars that make Australian music feel like home."
The grower’s area has expanded this year to include a cinema and workshops as well as food stalls with tasting plates and other delicacies from Dr Drool and Summer Cup Co using all local suppliers.
The cinema will showcase popular film Teach a Man to Fish by Manning-based filmmaker Grant Saunders and Living the Change, a film on sustainable living.
Gardener Chelsea Hands will make the area come alive as she builds a vertical garden and you can learn about bees from Amber Drop Honey along with other passionate producers.
“Our homegrown ethos runs through every cell of the festival, right down to the fences and the food - it's our mission to value all things local, sustainable and alive,” Holly said.
This year will also be the first Grow Your Own Art Show with festival creative director Lee McConnell pulling together an all-star lineup of artists including Jack Irvine, Mambo artists Lauren Webster, Kentaro Yoshida and Ben Brown, local indigenous artist Lara Went of Yukul Art and musicians Ruby Fields, Ozzie Wrong from Goons of Doom and Benny Reed from Skeggs.
Grow Your Own is on at Harry Elliott Oval in Tuncurry on January 12 and is an 18 years plus event.
