George Hoad has also been appointed patron, nominated in recognition of his service, dedication and commitment to the festival over many years.
Both Mave and George were delighted to be honoured in being appointed patrons of the Manning Winter Festival.
The appointments were made at the recent annual general meeting of the Manning Winter Festival at which a new committee was voted into office to lead the organisation towards the next festival year of 2020.
Between 2018-2020, the committee will work towards producing an exciting program for its biennial festival in June 2020.
MWF is a community based not-for-profit incorporated association.
The management committee is a small group of volunteers who believe in the future of our Manning Valley. It also respects the local heritage, seeks to promote and celebrate both cultural development and creative industry in the valley, showcase the rich and diverse local talent and support the local economy, by boosting tourism and employment.
A highlight of every festival is the presentation of the Visual and Performing Arts Awards. The Manning Winter Festivals are held every two years.
As with many community organisations, the MWF committee definitely needs new members if the Festivals are to be sustainable.
“We are hoping more arts-related organisations and interested members of the community will nominate and send a representative to join the incoming committee and support these wonderful initiatives,” a committee spokeswoman said.
The festival committee’s next meeting is on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Manning Regional Art Gallery in Macquarie Street, Taree, at 10am. Everyone is very welcome to attend.
