Nicola Searles was especially pleased with her result of 93.65.
On the back of four band fives, one E3 and one E2, Nicola said all her hard work in the last 12 months was worth it.
“I set myself a study plan and worked on past papers to help prepare for the exams,” Nicola said.
Nicola’s plan is to study medicine at either University of Newcastle or University of NSW with the ultimate goal of becoming an anaesthetist.
“I wanted to do something challenging,” Nicola said.
Although graduation from university is the further thing from her mind, Nicola said she plans on returning to a regional area for work.
Ella Simpson gained early entry to complete a double degree of arts and communications, majoring in ancient history and marketing, at Macquarie University.
“I want to go into marketing but I really enjoy ancient history so I want to keep going with it,” Ella said.
She received an ATAR of 56.50.
Ella made special mention of her English teacher Jowen Hillyer for guiding her through her studies.
Three Taree High School students appeared on the HSC Honour Roll.
Ezabell Young bin Kong was recognised for advanced English and extension one English while Harrison Doble and Riley Burton received a band six in music.
A snapshot of the State
46 students in NSW received an ATAR of 99.95.

About one-third got at least 80.00 and 49.5 per cent got at least 70.00.
The median ATAR was 69.65, so any students with HSC marks between 70 and 80 would have achieved this.
