A bumper crowd enjoyed more than 50 unique market stalls, street food and tunes from a variety of street performers.
Event coordinator Annette O’Rourke said the street was buzzing with excitement and was well received by all who attended.
“People came out and enjoyed the music and the stalls,” Annette said.
“It was another lovely and successful event.”
The immensely popular Lions Club Christmas Ham-ster Wheel was a great success, with all 50 hams sold.
Many businesses in the CBD stayed open during the bazaar and welcomed an influx of customers.
But perhaps the most popular attraction was everyone’s favourite man with a long, white beard.
Santa Claus was swamped by dozens of excited children as soon as his sleigh touched the ground.
“It took him 40 minutes to get to his chair,” Annette laughed.
“I was looking around for him and here he was with kids hanging off him.”
Great entertainment was provided throughout the night by Manning Valley Pipes and Drums, Geoff Kinchin, Chelsea Harvey, Alethea Foakes, Luca Saunders and Workshop Trio.
As always, the Sundara Belly Dancers and Iguana Fashion Parade were popular attractions.
The bazaar was Taree Business Chamber’s launch of the Light Up The Valley initiative.
Christmas lights were placed in shop fronts, trees and poles along the street and will remain there for the duration of December.
Annette said the bazaar will be back in 2019.
It is provisionally slated for Saturday, November 30.
“It’s always on the last Saturday in November.
“We’ll keep it going for the community.
“It’s something that gets people out of the house to do their pre-Christmas shopping,” Annette said.
