Two students from Coopernook Public School have scored in the top one per cent of students in the State in the recent Newcastle Permanent Primary Mathematics Competition.

Colby Gill of year six and Matilda Ashcroft of year five were invited to Newcastle last week to receive their high honours.
They both received high distinctions in the competition and both took home the Hastings District award for their respective years - Matilda year five and Colby year six.
Both students were also awarded a monetary prize.
Matilda and Colby have been amongst a group of participants in an extension math program at Coopernook Public School this year.
Coopernook principal, Mrs Tania Gilchrist said there were several students who had performed well in this competition. “Matilda and Colby’s outstanding results were a credit to their enthusiasm and dedication to learning.”
