She will be at Taree Library on Thursday, November 29 at 6pm to champion her Paddock to Print philosophy.
Jenn is a five-times published novelist, whose home for the last five years has been a purple and white caravan called Myrtle the Turtle, on her Paddock to Print Tour. This has involved visiting bookshops and libraries across regional Australia to encourage readers to support Australian writers.
“For years we’ve been hearing the manufacturing sector – clothing and food – tell us to buy Australian-made. I thought, why not encourage people to buy or borrow home-grown stories over imported, big-name author books?”
Jenn says it’s as simple as asking your library or books shop for suggestions.
“If you enjoy big-name overseas authors, your local librarian or bookseller will be able to recommend a local writer whose novels are just as compelling and well-written.”
Jenn’s career as novelist began late in life after a sea-change saw her leave Sydney’s corporate world to buy a small-town café on the NSW Mid North Coast and in 2008 open a dog-friendly B and B, which is when she found the time to start working towards the dream of publication.
Her debut, ‘House for all Seasons’, was a number 5 top-selling novel in 2013. Since then life for this self-confessed tree-change champion, cow lover, and caravanning nomadic novelist is all about finding inspiration for more small-town stories.
A three month stay on a fifth-generation cattle property inspired her latest novel, ‘A Place to Remember’, which is garnering high praise for its authentic landscapes, relatable characters, and the author’s ability to portray both the romanticism of country life and the sometimes-unavoidable realities of living on the land.
Jenn will be at Taree Library on Thursday, November 29 at 6pm, with books available for sale on the day. Bookings are essential – visit www.midcoastlibraries.com.au for tickets.
