Wingham lost a wicket early but a solid partnership between Drew Gosper (28) and Callum Taylor (17no) set a good foundation for Wingham.
Old Bar tore through the Wingham middle order, but a blistering 31 runs from Riley Lane helped Wingham set a defendable total. At the close of the innings Wingham were 6-131.
Out in the field Wingham looked sharp and in control with Bailey Timmins setting the standard with the gloves.
The second bowling change opened up Old Bar’s line-up with Callum Taylor 2-14 (three overs), and Cae Allan returning 1-13 after two overs. Drew Gosper also grabbed two wickets and Oscar Platt in his first game for Wingham held onto a nice caught and bowled to claim the last wicket, with Old Bar dismissed for 7-70, providing a convincing victory for Wingham.
Under 10’s
In Under 10’s action, the Wingham Sixes won the toss and elected to bowl, which proved to be a good decision in the hot conditions. Ned Crawford picked up two wickets in his third over to return 2-14 (four overs).
The Wingham fielding was exceptional with Angus Abbott and Anwar Ali jagging two runs out each along with Kobi Lucas completing a direct hit run out.
After 20 overs Wingham were able to contain Great Lakes (Professionals Real Estate) to 104 runs.
The Wingham run chase started a little slowly before Ned Crawford (35) struck seven boundaries, and together with Arabella Roohan (7) combined for a rapid partnership.
Excellent running between the wickets helped ensure Wingham surged to 8/153 at the completion of their 20 overs.
Improvement on all players helped ensure back to back victories for the Sixers.
Under 10’s
The Wingham Thunder Under 10’s also went on to a 41 run victory against Great Lakes (Jacks Moving). Shawn Griffin led the way with the bat top scoring with 14. Gus Loretan was the pick of the bowlers with 4-10 off two overs, and Joshua Oliver not far behind with 2-15 off three overs. The Thunder victorious 2-138 to 97.
