Six teams are taking part in an eight weeks series at the Taree outdoor netball courts, adjacent to Saxby’s Stadium.
Netball NSW North Coast and Far North Coast regional development officer Kirsten Clarke said unlike traditional netball, games have six minute quarters, unlimited rolling substitutions and power plays.
“Everyone had such a good time on the first night.
“It’s about re-imagining netball, it’s fast paced and social.
“You can pick a quarter for a power play where your points will be doubled,” Kirsten said.
Teams are mixed with players aged 15 years and up. Only two men per team are permitted to be on the court at the same time.
Wing defence and wing attack positions have been removed.
While players can still score one point with a goal in the inner circle, an outer circle goal is worth two points.
For the sharp shooters, a super shot outside of the goal circle is worth three points.
“Umpires can also penalise players for delaying play,” Kirsten said.
Games are open for players 15 years and up.
Kirsten thanked Rachel Latham for spearheading the series.
