On behalf of the Manning Valley Historical Society Inc. (MVHS) and the MVHS Diggers Ball Committee, I write to thank the many individuals, organisations, and businesses who contributed to the success of the 2018 Commemoration Diggers Ball held at the Wingham Memorial Town Hall on Saturday, September 29.

The small organising committee started out in November last year – no money, but loads of commitment!
Our plan was always to involve the wider community as much as possible.
Over time, we were thrilled to receive a grant through the Commonwealth Government`s Armistice Centenary Grants Program to assist with presentation costs. The wonderful local donations and in-kind support we received clearly demonstrated that the Anzac Legacy lives on in the Manning Valley. The remarkable list of contributors will be printed in the Wingham Chronicle (October 17, 2018).
The ball was a truly community-inclusive event, not only commemorating the centenary of the end of World War I, but also honouring all of Australia’s Defence and Peace-Keeping Service men and women up to the present day.
Volunteer community support for the event was outstanding. The evening was a resounding success, due in no small way to the wonderful contributions of so many different people. We thank them all.
Special thanks to the staff of the Wingham Chronicle and the Manning River Times for not only their assistance with promoting this “one-off” special event, but also for their continuing commitment to bring local news to our wider community.
Visual and written records of the event will be retained in the Wingham Museum and elsewhere. A series of event photographs are available on Facebook: Cleavers Images.
Lest We Forget.
