NSW Police corporate services Deputy Commissioner Rosemary Milkins thanked the State Government, MidCoast Council, Taree police officers and project managers for getting the project off the ground.
“It’s been a project really of great cooperation and collaboration between a whole bunch of people,” Ms Milkins said.
“I pay tribute to the police officers who have been working in facilities that have not been the best very willingly and professionally.”
Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said it will be a “modern facility for the future of policing.”
“They need to be able to work in an area that they are proud of, that they feel safe in and a place where the community can go to that they can be proud of and feel safe in,” Mr Bromhead said.
Officers are temporarily housed at the former MidCoast Water building on Muldoon Street.
The works are set to be completed by the end of 2019.
