My Health Record is Australia’s national digital health record system.
A My Health Record is an online summary of an individual’s health information, which can be viewed by the individual and their healthcare providers.
Each record can include information such as medications, allergies, test results, hospital discharge summaries and advance care plans.
The one-hour information sessions will inform residents about how the system works, what information can go into the My Health Record, how to access My Health Record, and explain how using My Health Record can improve a person’s management of their health.
The presentations will be followed by a Q&A, where the audience will have the chance to ask questions.
The Australian Digital Health Agency is rolling out the My Health Record system and has commissioned Primary Health Networks across Australia to engage with communities on a grassroots level.
“Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network is very pleased to be providing education opportunities to both healthcare providers and the general public about My Health Record,” said HNECCPHN CEO Mr Richard Nankervis.
“We are committed to providing accurate information about what My Health Record is capable of doing so that everyone can weigh up the benefits,” said Mr Nankervis.
Over six million Australians have already registered for a My Health Record.
By the end of the year a My Health Record will be created for everyone who has a Medicare or Department of Veterans Affairs card unless they choose to opt out by November 15.
