Following the outcome of the August 22 meeting, work will continue to complete the development of the branding strategy to market the area to visitors.
MidCoast Council mayor David West said it was important for the community to understand the new destination name was about appealing to new visitors to the area that will support the economy.
“This does not mean we won’t continue to attract the many visitors who already come and enjoy our beautiful region – those people will continue to come here, and we will continue to welcome them.”
Mayor West insisted MidCoast Council’s name is not being changed and several destination names had been considered over a period of time.
“Our aim is to ensure the whole region benefits – this means encouraging people to see more of the region, year round,” Mayor West said.
