“I always thought the biggest mistake (Greater Taree) council ever made was to reject Dan Murphy’s,’’ Mr Loftus said.
“But I can’t believe this one. This is bigger.’’
Mr Loftus referred to the report in Wednesday’s Manning River Times on the consultation session called by Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead held the previous Friday at Taree, attended by about 70 people.
“Mr Bromhead said the consensus was the Barrington Coast is not the way to go,’’ Mr Loftus said.
“Council should have listened to the community. And now they’re talking about spending $18 million to build a new Taj Mahal (headquarters at the former Masters site).’’
