With the number of youngsters attending the event on the increase over the last few years, organisers decided to set aside a dedicated area that will provide a safe and engaging environment for the kids.
The Kids Fun Zone will be located on the tennis court and will be packed with activities to keep the kids occupied for hours.
There is Side Show Alley which has great prizes to be won on the dunny toss, coconut throw and the ever popular ‘yucky dip’.
Spin the Killabakh prize wheel to win a tombola jar of surprises, make a fragrant flower garland and, while you are at it, why not have your face painted and hair highlighted with coloured hairspray?
There will be a colouring in competition with prize vouchers to be won, kindly donated by Little Red Café in Wingham. Don’t forget to put your entries in the box provided.
Free playdough will be available and a stall selling a refreshing cup of Killabakh’s very own homemade lemonade.
And not forgetting that the following day is Father’s Day – a stall with great gift ideas for that special dad will also be in the zone!
To cap it off, a ‘Day in the Country’ would not be complete without a few friendly farm animals for the little ones to get up close and personal with – including everyone’s favourite, Peppa Pig.
Local mum and co-ordinator of the Kids Fun Zone, Anna Axisa has been preparing the new area and is confident all the hard work will be worth it.
“It will be great to see the kids enjoying some good old country fun,” Anna said.
A great day out for all the family is assured with more than 60 stalls, the Scarecrow Competition with prizes donated by Bunnings Taree, a display of classic Holden cars, an art exhibition featuring top quality works, delicious food, plenty of seating and live music performed throughout the day including The Worksop and the Red Cedar Band, a Killabakh Day in the Country favourite who have reformed for one last show.
Killabakh’s Day in the Country will be held on Saturday, September 1 from 10am to 3pm, at the Killabakh Hall, just 16 kilometres north of Wingham along Comboyne Road.
Entry is by gold coin donation which provides the visitor with the day’s program of events as well as the opportunity to win a raffle prize.
The Killabakh Day in the Country started life 31 years ago as a ‘gala art show’.
