A 42-year-old man was charged after allegedly attempting to groom a child on the Mid North Coast.

About 10pm on Wednesday, August 15, an 11-year-old boy was travelling between Taree and Kempsey on a train when he was allegedly handed a note by a man who was sitting nearby.
Police will allege in the court the note contained sexual references and threats of violence.
As the train left Kempsey Railway Station, it is alleged the man attempted to usher the boy into the toilet on the train.
Train guards were notified and police from Mid North Coast Police District attended.
The man was arrested after the train stopped at Macksville Railway Station and taken to Macksville Police Station.
He was charged with procure child under 14 for unlawful sexual activity, procuring a child with abusive material and behaving in an offensive manner in/near a public place.
He was refused bail to appear at Macksville Local Court on Thursday, August 16.
