“From our perspective the trials were a great success proving the modifications we have recently made to the boat,’’ a spokesman for Warby Motorsport explained.
“We reached a speed of 188mph, which is about all we could expect given the limited distance of water we have to run in at Taree.
“This would be the fastest any boat has ever travelled or likely to travel on the Manning River.
“Dave feels the boat is feeling and performing better than ever and we cannot wait to get back to Blowering Dam, where we have enough water to really start to push the boat speed up. We are on track and feel the boat is performing above expectations and safely at this stage.’’
Warby is aiming to break the world water speed record of 511kmp (318mph) set in 1978 by his father, Ken back in 1978 in Spirit of Australia, also at Blowering Dam near Tumut.
