Gloucester, Wingham and Nabiac are gearing up for one of the biggest horse events of the year, the 2018 Glowalman Junior Campdraft and Sporting Championships.

The region will once again be inundated with eager riders ready to take on the week long competition, with around 400 entries in the campdraft alone.
Spread across three venues, the Gloucester, Nabiac and Wingham showgrounds. the event had typically run Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, but due to the high volume of entries in this popular competition it will spread across the full week.
The key dates for this year are: Monday and Tuesday, July 16 and 17 at Wingham, Wednesday and Thursday, July 18 and 19 at Gloucester and Saturday, July 21 at Nabiac. Each venue will host a range of campdrafting and sporting events, including bend, flag barrel, bonfield bounce, bend bar aft and stockrider.
The competition is open for children from eight to under 21 years with Gloucester to hold a led event around 12.30pm for the younger riders.
Campdraft and sporting awards will be presented at noon at the next venue following the event, with the Glowalman awards being presented at the completion of all the events at Nabiac.
Each year Glowalman has visiting riders from Western Australia with two chosen from this competition to head to Western Australia later in the year. This year, 18 year old Darcie Morris and 15 year old Freya Kerr will be making the trip to the Mid Coast region for the competition.

- Wingham – $15 family, $5 adults and $2 children
- Gloucester – $12 family, $5 adult and $2 children
- Nabiac – free
Glowalman is an Australian Bushmen's Campdraft and Rodeo Association (ABCRA) affiliated event. Other events to be held at the Gloucester Showground prior to Glowalman include: Australian Stock Horse (AHS) Challenge 2018 Round 2 on Sunday, July 8, ASH school to be held from Tuesday, July 10 until Thursday, July 12 and a Bison School for campdraft training on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15.
