A second preferred candidate will be chosen as well at this extraordinary and closed council meeting.
Council has carried out a merit based recruitment and selection process to fill the position of general manager as it resolved to do at a meeting on January 24, 2018.
On March 13, the full council met to discuss the type of person it was seeking, the length of contract, total remuneration package, interview questions, and position description and selection criteria.
Next Monday’s meeting will be held behind closed doors, as candidates have provided their personal information in confidence.
The general manager’s position was advertised in April and the selection panel met on May 4 where it identified six candidates to proceed to the initial interview. The selection panel comprises the mayor David West, deputy mayor Katheryn Smith, councillors Troy Fowler, Karen Hutchinson and Claire Ponton, and a qualified independent person from Local Government Management Solutions.
