Football Mid North Coast female development officer Laurence Barlow took the girls through a range of skill development lessons that were designed to help improve their confidence and coordination.
Northern NSW Football female participation officer Holly Ayton said the session, along with Female Football Week, introduces football to girls as young as five years of age, highlights the importance of growing the women’s game and promotes good health.
“It’s about understanding how to support women in the game, building a better culture, promoting inclusiveness and introducing girls to the game,” Holly said.
“It’s to celebrate how far we’ve come and female participation in sport.”
Holly said schools, football clubs and the media can help continue to expose female football participation, which has seen a significant increase in recent years.
