One of the best things about the 1950s, is the fantastic music that decade produced from both movie soundtracks and stage shows.
Now the 7 Sopranos bring the memories flooding back in their sensational new show “Songs From the Stage and Screen”.
These seven incredibly talented songstresses have charmed and beguiled one and all since forming eight years ago, with Alan Jones raving about them on his 2GB radio show
The 7 Sopranos were conceived in 2009 following an invitation to acclaimed opera singer Tarita Botsman to perform at a prestigious outdoor event at the iconic Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
Utilising her operatic pedigree and industry connections, Botsman called upon fellow singers to form a group that combined the voices of seven opera singers, and their journey began.
The world class voices of the newly formed 7 Sopranos had a huge impact and became an instant hit, quickly followed by further worldwide appearances and a recording contract with ABC Music (a subsidiary of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation) which debuted at No 2 on the Aria Charts.
In the hands of these artists named as “Australia’s most beautiful voices,” the ‘50s have never been so fun.
Songs from stage and screen takes you back in time to an era of post-war radio and television when families gathered around their wireless or shiny new television set on a Saturday night.
Get ready to sing along to the famous hits of that era and laugh along as The 7 Sopranos perform the sound effects of the commercials that we grew to know and love.
Songs include the popular hits, I Got Rhythm, Keep Young and Beautiful, I Enjoy Being a Girl, Dream a Little Dream, Shakin’ the Blues Away/C’mon Get Happy.
And then there are the hilarious old-time commercials with sound effects performed live, like Mr Sheen, Lovable Bra and Toni Home Perming Kits, with a little audience participation for good measure.
