Taree Police were notified of the incident at about 6am and extinguished the fire.
A glass window at the front of the store was also damaged.
Lifeline Taree store manager Kathy Karaman said she was angry when she arrived to work and confronted the mess.
“It’s just sad,” she said.
“It’s not fair on our volunteers to tidy it up.”
She said store volunteers cleaned the mess promptly, but it will take time to remove all the debris from the footpath.
“We’re still cleaning it and we’ll need to mop it every day,” Kathy said.
A strong smell of smoke was still in the air hours after the fire was put out.
This was the third incident at the site in the last eight months.
Debris was set on fire at the store’s electrical box two weeks ago while a front window was smashed in mid 2017.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Taree Police Station on 6552 0399.
Meanwhile, a Lifeline bin was targeted in Port Macquarie over the weekend.
The bin was packed with clothes and other donated items.
Lifeline Mid Coast NSW took to Facebook to share their disgust.
“It really hurts everyone involved with Lifeline because we rely on those bins, to raise money so we can give back to our local community.
“It’s a sad day for our donators, supporters and the people we are trying to help with suicide prevention services.”
