The electrical team of Glenn, Gordon and Frank have spent considerable time working under the layout sorting out some very complicated problems. But happily that seems to be coming together very nicely at last.
Meanwhile Kevin, Greg and Gordon have been busy doing a total makeover of the industrial area on the branch line. This has necessitated the total replacement of all the existing buildings and rail sidings. It never ceases to amaze me how just having a ‘fresh eye’ look at a problem how quickly it can be solved.
Glenn has virtually finished the signal system for both Somerton and the branch line sections. This includes the total working of the staff authorised sections on the branch layout.
As I think I have already mentioned the club has enjoyed a new influx of members over the last few months. One of the new members, Roy, is a keen N-scale modeller, so this is generating a lot of renewed interest in the N-scale section of the layout, with plans afoot for major alterations and additions. This is part of the completely new outlook in the club.
The club’s weathering expert, Justin, is planning to conduct some weathering clinics in the near future. That will spark a lot of interest in those members who like, for the sake of reality, to weather their locos and rolling stock. Then of course there are those members who prefer to keep every thing looking pristine.
The club is planning a full program of fundraising via sausage sizzles at Bunnings again this year. We look forward to meeting you when you visit Bunnings.
Please feel free to come along to have a look any Wednesday or Saturday from 9am to 3pm. The Taree and District Model Railway Club rooms are located at 103 Manning Street, Taree.
