Thanks to the Wingham Chronicle for my profile last week. However there was a typo on my part. It should have read – I started work on December 1962, not 1972.

Historical Society
The Tinonee Historical Museum welcomed a group from Wollongong on Wednesday, with a Gollan family connection. We contacted Sue (nee Gollan) and her husband Peter Langdown and brother David Gollan during their visit, which was appreciated. The museum is always looking for local family histories and photos to add to its collection and new members to help keep the museum open and operational. Call in Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, 10am-2pm, or Saturday, 12.30pm-3.30pm, if interested.
Sad farewells –
January 4 - Norman (Norm) Victor Hatchwell passed away aged 89. Norm was a well known cricketer in the Manning and played football and, in later years, golf. He came to the Manning with his family and farmed on several properties in the Bo Bo, Kimbriki and Wingham areas. Left to mourn are wife of over 60 years Marie, and children – Richard, David and Narelle, Stephen, Jeff and Sue, Heather and Rod and their families. His funeral at St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Wingham, on January 12, was conducted by Rev Brian Ford, followed by interment at the Bo Bo Cemetery.
January 8 – Former resident, and our neighbour for many years, Bruce Mackie, late of Storm Village and Wandarra Street, passed away aged 97. He and his late wife Nita came to Tinonee in the 1980s and lived there a number of years before moving to Taree. Bruce was a Taree RSL Sub-branch member and proudly wore his medals from the Royal Australian Navy at the 2017 Remembrance Day Service. Left to mourn are Chris and Catherine, Sharon (dec) Steve and Julieann, Peter, John, David and Lyndall, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bruce’s funeral on January 16, at Our Lady of the Rosary, Taree, was followed by interment in Dawson River Lawn Cemetery.
January 9 – David Mervyn Wallis, late of Old Bar, and formerly of Nabiac, passed away suddenly aged 73, leaving wife Georgina and family – Natalie and Paul, Jackie, Adam and Kim, Ben and Bec, Renai and Woody, Cassie and Trent, and 15 grandchildren, brothers Owen, Terry, and Bill, (sister Beulah deceased). He was farewelled at the Manning Great Lakes Memorial Gardens Chapel on January 13, at 9am. David and Georgina lived in Nabiac for many years and later in Tinonee, where they operated the pre-school before retiring to Old Bar.
