February is almost upon us and that means one thing: it’s Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Afternoon Teal time.
Around the country people are being encouraged to become a host for hope by donning their favourite apron and hosting an Afternoon Teal to raise awareness and much needed funds for women and their families living with ovarian cancer.
Teal is the international colour for ovarian cancer, so it’s the perfect excuse to pull out the food colouring, bake that cake that you’ve needed an excuse to make and try out that new biscuit recipe that Aunty Alice passed on to you at Christmas.
Baking not your thing? Not to worry – whether it’s a teal-inspired high tea, picnic, golf day or gala dinner, anybody and everybody can get involved!
We rely on our fundraising community to continue to deliver our awareness, support, advocacy and research programs.
In fact, Ovarian Cancer Australia is the only organisation that provides specialised support to those affected by ovarian cancer – that is, the women living with the disease as well as their loved ones – through support groups, phone support, online resources and more.
This year, Ovarian Cancer Australia aims to raise $500,000. Registrations are now open at www.afternoonteal.net.au.
Once you register your Afternoon Teal, Ovarian Cancer Australia will send you an Afternoon Teal Kit which contains everything you need and more to start planning your Afternoon Teal, teal balloons and all! Be sure to like and follow Ovarian Cancer Australia on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for some ‘tealspiration’ for your event.
Don’t forget to share your Afternoon Teal photos on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter with #AfternoonTeal – we love being inspired by our community. Australians can also raise funds and show their support by wearing a teal ribbon throughout February – particularly on Teal Ribbon Day, Wednesday 28 February 2018. T
eal ribbons are available for $3 from TerryWhite Chemmart pharmacies and Black Pepper stores nationally, as well as from Ovarian Cancer Australia at www.ovariancancer.net.au
