In the lead up to the ‘big one’ on Sunday night, Friday (December 29) will be partly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower in the north. Daytime temperatures will reach between 28 and 35 across the region (see the maximum forecasts for major centres in the chart below).
Saturday will be cloudy with a high chance of showers, most likely in the afternoon and evening with daytime temperatures reaching 26 to 32. There will also be a chance of a thunderstorm.
New Year’s Eve is likely to be cloudy with a medium chance of showers, most likely in the morning and afternoon. Sunday will also see the possibility of a thunderstorm so if you’re heading out and about be sure to be prepared. Maximum temperatures across the region will reach between 23 and 29.
Some towns including Port Macquarie have copped some wild weather over the festive season with wild storms on Christmas Eve then some very heavy falls on boxing day:
